Leadership Development Opportunity

Overview:
Nova Scotia Young Farmers recognizes the importance of continuous learning and networking in agriculture. By attending conferences, young farmers can build leadership skills, meet new people in the industry, and gain insights into emerging trends, innovative practices, and new technologies that can enhance their farming operations and the industry in general. This opportunity is designed to empower young agricultural professionals, strengthen the industry, and foster a culture of knowledge-sharing within the local farming community. Investing in young farmers today ensures a more resilient and sustainable future for Nova Scotia’s agricultural sector.
This leadership development opportunity will support young farmers in attending national or local agricultural or leadership conferences to enhance their knowledge, skills, and networks. Successful candidates can have registration, accommodation, and travel expenses provided (as outlined below).

Eligibility Criteria:
•Must be a current Nova Scotia Young Farmers member, in good standing, and be between the ages of 18 and 40. Need to renew your membership?
•Must be actively engaged in farming, agribusiness, or the agricultural industry.
•Must be a resident of Nova Scotia.
•Must demonstrate a commitment to learning and applying knowledge gained at the conference.
•Must be willing to share insights with their local farming community and NSYF board upon return.

Eligible items:
•Conference registration fees
•Travel expenses (airfare/mileage)
•Accommodation costs
Registration, flights, and accommodation payments will be coordinated by NSFA. Please do not register for leadership opportunities under this program without confirmation of approval. Limited funding is available. Applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis. Not all applications may receive funding.

Selection Criteria:
•Demonstrated passion for agriculture and professional development
•Clear explanation of how attending the conference will benefit the applicant’s farm/business/career goals
•Plan for sharing acquired knowledge with peers
